Tactic Tuesday and Minutiae

Greetings internet! Those of you who notice things may have noticed that there was no Tactic Tuesday last week. I spent the time I would normally spend writing a Tactic Tuesday (and much more time than that) dealing with technology issues. And when I say “technology issues” I mean a computer virus that ended up sucking up hours of time to diagnose, attempt to repair, and finally repair.

This brings me to the subject of this weeks Tactic Tuesday, and my #2 Personal Rule: Always stack the deck in your favor.

Whenever you set out to accomplish something, whether it’s completing a short-term goal, or integrating something into your routine, you need to stack the deck in your favor. That is, you need to look at all the variables that are within your control that could impact the success of what you’re trying to accomplish, and adjust them to be as favorable to you as possible.

In my case, this manifests as having a go-to plan on hand to recover from even the most severe computer issue. My laptop is my livelihood, and not having a plan to recover it set be back big time. Rather than putting my energy into creating content and being productive, I was stuck fixing the machinery I use to create that content.

Net result: a big waste of time.

The bottom line lesson here is take care of the variables at the outset. Have a plan. That way, when it’s game day, you won’t be wasting your time playing catch-up with the tools that exist to help you do the job in the first place.
